Paralegal

As a Paralegal, you will collaborate with our Legal department in all stages of case management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching law, investigating facts, and preparing documents to assist the attorneys by performing a variety of support duties.

We are a growing law firm in need of a reliable, dedicated, proactive Paralegal. The Paralegal will work directly with our attorneys to prepare for upcoming cases. The ideal candidate for this position is organized, professional, responsible, and committed to helping us meet all of our client’s needs.

This position will help you exercise and acquire applicable, real-world skills and provide you with knowledge of the legal industry. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in the field and will be prepared to enter any fast-paced work environment following your time in the position.

Work Hours & Benefits:

  • 40 hours per week IN OFFICE - this can be either a part time or full time position

Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, and motions.
  • Investigate facts and law of case to determine causes of action and to prepare cases accordingly.
  • Perform other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, taking dictation, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail.
  • Prepare affidavits of documents and maintain document files.
  • Create and update current information involving a client’s case.
  • Act as law librarian, keeping and monitoring legal volumes and ensuring legal volumes are up-to-date.
  • File correspondence and legal documents in the office filing system.
  • Ensure proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Strong desire to learn along with a professional drive
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Comfortable with multitasking in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research and report-generating skills
  • Excellent organization and ability to follow direction
  • Experience in using legal database software
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software

Education

  • Current enrollment or completion of a Bachelor's degree

    • or one to two years of related experience and/or training;

    • or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Paralegal certification is preferred but not required.

  • Additional legal research certifications and coursework is preferred

Bonus:
